Located adjacent to the Salinas River Dam in Santa Margarita, CA, this interpretive center emphasizes the struggle between interference and abidance with nature. The Salinas Dam provides an important source of drinking water for humans through the Santa Margarita Reservoir, however it also interferes the natural processes of the area, including upstream fish travel and erosion. This interpretive center demonstrates both sides of the equation, having one side dig into the topography and one side sit delicately on the ground plane. The space features a gallery, lobby, cafe, restrooms, and research lab for the park's employees.
